Psalms 23:2-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 23:2-5 portrays resting in green pastures, quiet waters, and restoration under divine guidance. It also speaks of protection through the valley and abundant provision at the table.
Neville's Inner Vision
Reading Psalm 23:2-5 through Neville’s lens, the green pastures and still waters are not places in time but states of consciousness you enter by attention. God, or the I AM within, leads you to lie down, to restore your soul, and to walk the paths of righteousness as the natural order of your inner world. The valley of the shadow of death becomes a fluctuation of fear you observe without clinging; your awareness itself becomes the rod and staff that comfort you. The table prepared in the presence of enemies is the inner abundance awaiting your claim when you stop seeking externally and begin to feel your own sufficiency. Oil on the head signifies consecration to the divine image you consistently affirm, and the cup running over is the overflow of blessing when your inner life is aligned with that image. This is not waiting for God, but recognizing that the I AM—your real self— is always acting as guide, protector, and provider within you. Your reality follows the direction of inner assumption, revision, and the vivid sensation that you are already supported and complete.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, enter the green pastures in your mind, and assume you are led by still waters. Revise fear by affirming 'The I AM is with me now' and feel the abundance cup overflowing.
