Biblical Context
The passage says God does not despise the afflicted, nor hide His face; when they cried, He heard. It also commits to praising Him publicly and keeping vows before the faithful.
Neville's Inner Vision
Psalm 22:24-25 reads like a map of my inner state. God is not an external being but the I AM that I am, the witness who does not despise my pain or hide when I cry. The affliction I feel signals an inner movement toward awareness that longs to be named. When I imagine my cry reaching the heavens, I am not petitioning a distant God; I am awakening to the truth that I am hearing myself—my own consciousness answering my call. The line about praising in the great congregation tells me my inner assembly can honor the truth I am discovering. To pay my vows is to live from the state I have claimed, to act and speak as if the inner witnesses are present. This is the transition from suffering to self-recognition, from petition to testimony, accomplished when I remain constant in the I AM and let imagination render it real. In such a practice, affliction is reinterpreted as feedback from consciousness, inviting greater fidelity to the state I choose to inhabit.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the I AM has heard your cry; feel the relief ripple through your body as the 'face not hid' becomes your inner awareness. Then declare inwardly, 'I praise You and keep my vows,' and rest in that felt truth until it becomes your normal state.
