Biblical Context
Psalm 22:18 describes the division of garments and the casting of lots on vesture, symbolizing how outward life can be distributed by inner beliefs and judgments.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the vision of casting lots upon my vesture, I hear not a crowd outside but a wind of opinions within. The garments are not cloth but states of consciousness I have worn, roles I have believed myself to be. They part my garments among them to signify how the world distributes my outward life according to inner judgment. When I, the I AM, awaken from the dream that I am merely these clothes, I discover that what is parted off can be reawakened in new colors. Suffering and trials here act as a stone grinding away the old form, yet they do not alter the eternal self. The prophecy and promise speaks: a future I already possess in imagination becomes present when I revise the feeling of being clothed in the victory I desire. Humility and meekness are not weakness but freedom from identification with the garment. I am not the garment; I am the I AM that clothes the garment by imagination.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in a quiet moment, imagine a robe of your desired state being placed upon you by your I AM. Then declare, with feeling, 'I AM clothed in peace (or courage, love, strength) now; this is my natural garment.'
