Hearing the Inner King

Psalms 20:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 20 in context

Scripture Focus

9Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.
Psalms 20:9

Biblical Context

The psalm is a plea for God's salvation and for the king to hear the people's call when they cry out.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your inner state is addressed as if speaking to God, but the true 'king' is the sovereign I AM that rules your consciousness. When you say 'Save, LORD,' you are not invoking a distant rescue; you are awakening desire and alignment within your own mind. The plea 'let the king hear us when we call' becomes this: the inner ruler, the king of your state, will hear and respond only as you assume the feeling of its presence. In Neville's terms, salvation is a shift of state, not a plea to change external conditions. By assuming you are already saved—already heard—your inner atmosphere is rearranged so that your calls meet the unerring response of consciousness. The moment you call inwardly, you are inviting the I AM to acknowledge you as one with its ruling presence. The 'hearing' is the echo of assumption made in imagination; the deliverance you seek arises from the inner conviction that the king is listening and upholding you. The feeling of being heard is the reality that unfolds outwardly.

Practice This Now

Do this now: close your eyes, presume the inner king is listening, and feel 'I am heard; I am saved' as a present fact for a few minutes.
