Inner Kingship of Psalms 2

Psalms 2:1-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 2 in context

Scripture Focus

1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Psalms 2:1-12

Biblical Context

Earthly rulers rage, imagining vain schemes against the LORD and his anointed. Yet the Deity laughs, sets a king on Zion, and invites all to trust in him.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of Psalms 2:1-12 as a map of your inner world. The 'heathen' and 'kings' are restless states of mind seeking control, but the I AM—your deeper awareness—sits in the heavens and laughs at the clamor. When it speaks of 'my Son' and 'begotten this day,' it is the recognition that you are the beloved expression of God in this very moment. The 'Ask of me' is not to prayer for things, but to exercise the imagination that fashions reality. The nations, the bowing of rulers, and the power to 'break them with a rod of iron' represent the decisive power of your inner decree; to 'kiss the Son' is to consent to this inner Kingship, to honour the elevated self that stands on Zion within. The command to 'serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling' becomes a joyful obedience to your own I AM presence. When you trust in him, you find safety, continuity, and the certainty that nothing can outerly unsettle what you have assumed inwardly.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise any sense of lack by assuming you are the king on Zion now; feel the decree 'Thou art my Son' as a living truth in your chest, and let that awareness bless your day.
