Read Psalms 19 in context

Scripture Focus

13Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psalms 19:13

Biblical Context

The verse prays for protection from presumptuous sins so the speaker remains upright and innocent from the great transgression.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this verse is not a call for external force but a turning of your inner perception. Presumptuous sins are thoughts and habits that claim dominion over your inner kingdom. When you refuse them the throne and withdraw your attention from their spell, you awaken as the I AM—awareness that never leaves its own reality. Let them not have dominion over me signifies your decision to disallow any belief that you are ruled by fear, vanity, or compulsion. In that moment you cease being the servant to habit and become the ruler of your own inner state. Uprightness is the natural condition of a consciousness that stands sentry over its thoughts and feelings, not by coercion but by fidelity to the divine I. The great transgression dissolves as you rest in the truth that you are the I AM, and nothing can impose guilt or failure upon the liberated you. Your reconciliation with your true nature becomes immediate, here, now, as you assume and feel it, and the past is forgiven in the very posture of inner awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes; declare mentally, 'I am the I AM. I keep back every presumptuous sin from ruling my heart.' Feel the inner authority as you imagine a bright, sovereign state ruling your thoughts and cleansing your inner air of compulsion.
