Inner Light Awakening
Psalms 18:28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse declares that God lights the speaker's candle and enlightens darkness. It points to an inner, divine illumination that comes from within consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that the psalmist speaks not of an outward lamp but of an inner candle lit by the I AM within. Darkness, in Neville's terms, is a state of consciousness—belief in separation from the light of God. When you hear “thou wilt light my candle,” hear it as a directive to assume your awareness as the lit flame. The LORD my God is the life that animates that awareness, the power by which you illuminate what you once deemed dark. Therefore to enlighten your darkness is to revise your sense of self from lack to fullness: you are already attended by divine presence; you simply awaken to it. To practice: close your eyes, declare gently, “I am the light of God within me,” and allow that sentence to saturate your thoughts until you feel a warmth or brightness arise. Do not seek the light outside; let your imagination entertain the feeling of the wish fulfilled—that you are, here and now, lit by the I AM.
Practice This Now
Practice: sit in quiet; affirm “I am the light of God within me” and visualize a candle in your mind growing brighter until darkness dissolves.
