Biblical Context
Psalm 18:10-11 depicts ascent and protection as consciousness moves toward higher states. It invites seeing inner darkness as a secret sanctuary where the I AM can ride the wind of imagination.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you the I AM lifts you on the cherub of imagination, moving with the wind of your awareness. The cherub stands for your higher self, the lighted capacity to image and thereby bring realities into being. When the text says darkness is his secret place, understand that darkness is not absence but a sanctuary—an inner stage where unseen forces of thought and feeling marshal themselves to support your ascent. The pavilion of dark waters and thick clouds marks your interior weather: moods, memories, doubts, and aspirations—all within reach of your present assumption. You are asked to reframe these conditions with a single act: believe you are already there, see yourself as the one who rides the wind, and let imagination carry you to the feeling of fulfilled presence. The outer world will reflect the new inner posture, for all events obey the consciousness that holds them. The flight is a practice of I AM awareness: you are not reaching a distant God, you are becoming the God you already are, through the quiet, steady ascent of mind.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are already there: riding the cherub of imagination, carried by the wind into the inner darkness that is really your sanctuary. Feel the I AM as your constant companion.
