Steady Steps in Divine Paths
Psalms 17:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

The verse asks for divine guidance to keep the speaker on the right path so their steps do not slip.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the 'paths' are states of consciousness, not roads. 'Hold up my goings in thy paths' becomes a command I give to the I AM within to sustain my movements on a divine order. Footsteps slip when the mind wavers—when fear, habit, or self-will trips over a truth we have not fully accepted. When I imagine myself apart from Providence, I stumble; when I realize I am the consciousness in which Providence acts, movement becomes secure. The 'paths' are the steady habits of consciousness—obedience, truth, faithfulness—that align me with the Presence of God. To experience this, I do not beg for aid but assume I am already on that path, that my next step is being held by the same intelligence that upholds the whole world. I revise any sense of lack by dwelling in the feeling of being led, and I feel the momentum of divine order moving through me. In this light, the road becomes a manifestation of my inner truth, and my footfalls slip not because someone watches over me but because I have become the watchful presence myself.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine a bright, inner path beneath your feet; affirm, 'I am held by the paths of God,' and feel your next step already established by divine order.
