Read Psalms 17 in context

Scripture Focus

4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
Psalms 17:4-5

Biblical Context

The psalm describes being kept from the destructive paths by the word spoken from God. It asks for guidance to keep the feet from slipping.

Neville's Inner Vision

This verse speaks to inner states, not external places. 'The word of thy lips' is the I AM speaking within you, the inner decree by which you refuse destruction. When you align with that inward Word, you are kept from paths that would unravel your peace; you no longer drift, because your awareness holds you in a steady current. The 'paths' are inner dispositions—the habits and choices by which you walk through life. The 'destroyer' is the pull of fear, doubt, or anger that would slip your feet toward harm. By praying, imagining, and living as if the Word already governs you, you lift up your goings in the divine order; your steps become resilient, not brittle. The body follows the consciousness; the outer world becomes a mirror of your inward obedience. Therefore, make the assumption that the Word governs you today, and watch your life rearrange to stay on the safe, divine path.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the Word is your inner governor now. Revise every thought of danger and feel your feet planted on the divine path.
