Inner Vigil of Righteous Faith
Psalms 17:1-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm pleads for right hearing, protection, and deliverance, asking God to guide the speaker's steps and preserve him from enemies. It ends with a vow to behold God's face in righteousness and be satisfied with His likeness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Hear the right is a declaration of your state of consciousness, not a distant judgment. In this moment you become the one who attends to the inner cry; you assume that the I AM is listening and guiding your speech, and you refuse to let feigned lips speak any fiction of limitation. When you say, 'Let my sentence come forth from thy presence,' you are choosing to let your inner script originate in the divine awareness that is always present as you. The words of thy lips become the discipline that keeps you from the paths of destruction, because you are now more concerned with alignment than outer attack. Ask that your goings be held in the divine path, so that your steps do not slip in fear or doubt. The sheltering image of 'the apple of the eye' and 'the shadow of thy wings' becomes your felt reality: you are protected, guided, and central in God's view. The awakening line, 'I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness,' is your daily invitation to rest in the truth that you are already made in His image, and your life now reflects that likeness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state of I AM hearing. Repeat, 'I am protected, guided, and kept in divine paths,' and feel that protection as your immediate reality.
