Biblical Context
The psalm speaks of declaring God's majesty and works, remembering His goodness, and singing of His righteousness; the inner life becomes the ground of these praises.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the view that God is the I AM within, the verse becomes an instruction for the inner man. I do not seek wonders in an outside power, for majesty is the majesty of my own consciousness. When I speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, I am naming the living energy of awareness that moves in me. The wondrous works are inner movements of imagination; by imagining in harmony I set new conditions into form. When it says 'men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts,' I recognize these acts as the disciplined acts of mind—states I persist in until they align with my true nature. The memory of thy great goodness is the impression I refuse to erase, the inner memory I sing of by repeating gratitude and steadfast righteousness. Thus the Psalm becomes a practice: to imagine rightly is to praise; to dwell in the I AM is to see the world reflect that nobility. My life is the evidence when I believe what I imagine.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes for a few minutes and assume the state of I AM, declaring, 'I am the glorious majesty within me; I remember great goodness and sing righteousness into my life.' Feel the truth as if written on your heart.
