Inner Refuge Psalm 142
Psalms 142:2-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm records pouring out troubles before God; when the spirit is overwhelmed and no apparent help remains, the path is known by God, while refuge seems absent.
Neville's Inner Vision
See this psalm as an inner drama of your own consciousness. The complaint poured out is your current state of awareness, signaling that you have temporarily forgotten the I AM within. When your spirit feels overwhelmed, the path seems exposed to snares because you have identified with the surface conditions rather than with the Source of life. 'Thou knewest my path' is not a geography but the I AM’s intimate knowledge of your being; it knows the way you walk because it is the way you are. The right hand, the refuge that fails, points to the mistaken belief that protection comes from others. In truth, refuge is the I AM—your unassailable awareness. By revising the scene in imagination and assuming the feeling of being known, supported, and guided by that Infinite Presence, you awaken the path within. As you dwell in that state, the external appearances yield; you become aware that you were never abandoned, only out of alignment with your inner reality. The psalm becomes a practice: restore your awareness, and the way appears.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and silently declare, 'I AM the way; I AM the refuge.' Feel that awareness fully supporting you, then picture the path ahead opening as you walk.
