Biblical Context
The verse uses images of inner judgments toppled in hard places and of sweet words heard within. It also portrays the old self as bones scattered at the grave's mouth, signifying a decisive end to former conditioning.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within your own consciousness, the 'judges' are the fixed thoughts and verdicts you have accepted about yourself. When they are overthrown in stony places, it means you refuse to live by the harsh judgments of the past and instead stand in a new state of awareness. Your spoken words, which are 'sweet,' are the vibrations that rearrange your inner atmosphere, inviting new images to take root. The line 'Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth' signals the dissolution of the old identity at the border between old life and new manifestation—your former self is not destroyed but released from the heavy slab of belief. As one cuts and cleaveth wood upon the earth, so you prune away limiting scripts and sever attachments that have kept you bound to fear. The psalm invites you to let your I AM, your continuous awareness, speak the truth you choose to inhabit. By assuming this new state—the sense of being the author of your inner world—you invite external appearances to reflect your inner reality, and the sweetness of your words becomes the living law of your life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and in imagination overthrow the harsh inner judge in the 'stony' ground of your mind. Then hear your own words as sweet and feel them real, as you witness the old self (bones) dissolve at the grave’s mouth and a new consciousness arise.
