Biblical Context
Psalm 139:3 declares that God encircles my path and lies down with me, fully knowing all my ways. It speaks of intimate divine presence guiding every step.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, when I read 'Thou compassest my path,' I understand it as the I AM, my own consciousness, drawing a circle around every step. The verse tells me there is no part of my life hidden from the awareness that I am; all my ways are known within the one life I inhabit. If a habit or fear appears, it is not a distant event but a movement within my mind, a known current in the river of consciousness. Therefore I do not chase changes in the world; I revise the state of awareness that projects them. I assume a new posture of total mastery, that the path I walk is already perfected by the inner awareness that encircles me. When I feel my lying down and my rising, I dwell in the same timeless now where God's presence is constant. In such stillness, the boundary between inside and outside dissolves; I become the compass and the road, and every usage of time reflects my knowing. Thus, the way is not found, but recognized, as I awaken to the fact that I am already the whole journey.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, place your hand on your heart, and declare: I am the consciousness surrounding every path; I already know all my ways. Revise any sense of lack by dwelling in that knowing until it feels real that I am the compass and my life is guided by awareness.
