Scripture Focus

13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
Psalms 139:13-18

Biblical Context

The psalm declares that God formed me in the womb, that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that His thoughts about me are precious and countless from birth onward. It also speaks of waking to His presence, suggesting that the divine perspective accompanies every moment of my life.

Neville's Inner Vision

What Psalm 139:13-18 reveals, in Neville's sense, is the truth that you exist as a state of consciousness within the I AM. The 'reins' and 'substance' signify the inner suppositions you entertain about yourself; God is the I AM observing and affirming. The womb becomes the inner workshop where form is drafted by your imagination, not by chance, and to be made in secret is to be shaped now by the invisible decree of your own mind aligned with divine order. When you declare you are fearfully and wonderfully made, you harmonize your self-image with a perfect design already written in the book of your being. The precious thoughts of God are not distant; they are the continuous guidance of your inner life, the stream by which your future is drawn. To awaken and find yourself still with God is to recognize that your life remains within the living consciousness that is God, here and now.

Practice This Now

Step into the posture of I AM: close your eyes, affirm 'I am fearfully and wonderfully made,' and feel that the divine thoughts about you are guiding your present life. Stay with that feeling for a minute and revise any contrasting belief toward its truth.
