Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 138:1-8 expresses wholehearted praise, trust in God’s lovingkindness and truth, and the conviction that divine mercy sustains the believer in trouble. It also shows worship as an inward alignment with the I AM that draws strength and deliverance.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine that every word the psalmist intones is not a distant circle of sound but an inner state you inhabit. The 'I will praise thee with my whole heart' is you choosing to be the conscious center that is aware of itself, before the gods of circumstance. When you work with the line 'thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name,' you perceive that your inner word—the creative decree of I AM—stands supreme over outward labels. In the day you cry, you receive: not from outside, but from within, where your soul is strengthened. The kings of the earth may seem to contend, yet their praise arises when your inner mouth speaks truth. 'The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me' becomes your experience as you align with mercy that endures forever. The psalm invites you to trust that even in trouble your right hand saves you; your practice is to dwell in the awareness that your imagined state precedes manifestation. When you realize that you are already cherished by the divine I AM, your life mirrors that glory.
Practice This Now
Assume the state: 'I am praised, I am answered, I am strengthened.' Sit quietly and feel that truth until it registers as your own.
