Read Psalms 137 in context

Scripture Focus

7Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
Psalms 137:7

Biblical Context

The psalm recalls Edom's rejoicing over Jerusalem's ruin and flags a moment of judgment toward inner enemies of faith. It points to exile and the promise of return as inner possibilities.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within me the LORD is I AM. The 'children of Edom' are the inner voices of doubt that cheer when I imagine destruction. Their cry, rase it to the foundation, reveals a fear that the foundation cannot stand. Yet the foundation is not in bricks but in consciousness. Jerusalem stands as the alignment I already possess when I stop reacting to fear and start imagining from the end. The exile I mourn is the belief that I am separated from my divine city; the return is my decision to assume the truth that I am one with it. The moment I accept this, the outer world rearranges to reflect my inner state. Judgment is not imposed from without; it is the tuning of my own mind to the awareness that I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner city cannot be destroyed; feel the security of your I AM. Revise the memory: Edom's voice is transformed into gratitude, and Jerusalem is forever established in your consciousness.
