Read Psalms 136 in context

Scripture Focus

23Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:
24And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalms 136:23-24

Biblical Context

God remembers us in our low estate; his mercy endures forever. He redeems us from our enemies because of that mercy.

Neville's Inner Vision

To read this psalm, dear heart, is to notice the inner field in which you live. 'He remembered us in our low estate' is not a distant event but a statement of your present state: in the I AM that you are, the image of your past weakness is recalled and healed by the everlasting mercy of consciousness. The mercy that endures forever is the unchanging nature of awareness itself. When you identify with the sense of 'I' that is privileged to feel, you will find that the so-called enemies: fear, doubt, lack, are only figments of a dream you are waking from. Your redemption, then, is the realization that you are never outside the steadiness of mercy; you are now redeemed by your own awareness, set free from the imagined assaults of separation. Practice living from the assumption that you are indeed remembered, cherished, and protected by the I AM, and watch the inner scenery realign to reflect liberation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Stand in the truth of the I AM and silently say, 'I am remembered by God in my highest self; mercy endures forever, and I am redeemed now.' Then, feel the sensation of freedom, as if enemies dissolve into mercy.
