Read Psalms 134 in context

Scripture Focus

1Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
Psalms 134:1

Biblical Context

It presents night-time worship by the Lord's servants who stand in His house, inviting them to bless the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of this verse as a statement about the state you are always in: the servants are states of consciousness, standing in the house of the LORD is the mind disciplined by quiet trust in the I AM. Night stands for the period when outward activity is still, yet your inner temple is awake. To bless the LORD is to acknowledge the one living presence within you; to bless is to bless yourself or your own I AM. When you stand in that inner house, you are not performing for a distant deity, you are tuning the instrument of awareness to the keynote of God. The 'watchman' is the vigil of imagination, the attitude of gratitude that this awareness is ever-present. As you dwell there, the world outside becomes a projection of your inner state; by blessing, you revise that state, elevating it into quiet certainty. Your imagination is the house, your I AM is the LORD, and the night is a veil that lifts as you practice.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume you are the night-watch servant standing in the inner temple; breathe slowly and, with each exhale, feel 'I AM' bless the LORD as the space you occupy.
