Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm speaks of attackers who plowed my back, a vivid image of deep oppression. It then declares the LORD's righteousness and that the cords of the wicked are cut, signaling release.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the 'plowers' are not mere men outside your door, but inner patterns of thought—habitual beliefs about danger, guilt, or lack—that leave furrows in your consciousness. In Neville's language, these furrows are states of mind you continually live from. The line 'The LORD is righteous' is an invitation to awaken to the I AM, the inner law of rightness that judges and dissolves your limiting beliefs. When you accept the I AM as the present authority and source of order, those cords—formed by fear and grievance—are cut asunder, not by a power outside you, but by the alignment of awareness with truth. Your deliverance happens as you shift from identifying with the pain to identifying with the perceiving awareness that observes it. In that shift, the furrows no longer determine your steps; the sense of justice and relief is felt as the immediate reality of your consciousness. The scene changes: from injury to liberation, from charge to grace, as you recognize that your inner I AM has already resolved the situation.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and, in your imagination, feel the furrows fading while declaring, 'I AM the righteous mind within me.' Then breathe in the felt sense of release as the cords loosen.
