Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 127:1-5 teaches that without the Lord's building and protection, human effort is in vain; true security and fruit come from aligning the inner self with God.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, this psalm is describing your inner life, not a blueprint for outward trickery. Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it; when the I AM is the architect of your state of consciousness, your efforts find their correct form without strain. Except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain; the true keeping is mental, a quiet assurance that the divine presence is the guardian of your inner city. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He giveth his beloved sleep. When you rest in the Knowing that you are beloved of God, work flows from desire rather than fear, and sleep becomes nourishment rather than escape. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Your ideas, enterprises, and outcomes are His gifts to you, drawn forth as you dwell in the I AM. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth — youthful energies and possibilities, guided from within. Happy is the one whose quiver is full of such blessings, for they demonstrate the inner order to the world.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as the architect of your life. Close your eyes and feel the house, city, and your projects being securely held by divine design; rest in this conviction and let it radiate through your day.
