Psalms 126:2-3

Biblical Context

Psalm 126:2-3 speaks of laughter and singing as the outward sign of God’s great deeds in our lives, and of others recognizing those deeds. It then proclaims our own gladness for these divine effects. The focus is on inner transformation expressed as joyful praise.

Neville's Inner Vision

All the laughter and singing are not events happening to you; they are the outward sign of an inward reality you have assumed and now inhabit. The mouth that speaks joy is the mouth you awaken in your imagination, for your inner I AM is the actor, not the world. When you claim that the Lord hath done great things for you, you are announcing that your consciousness has shifted, that past limitations have been carried away by a current of grace. The congratulatory words of the heathen are not about others; they represent your own judgment that your former self has endured and been transformed by the divine action within. The Lord hath done great things for us; we are glad; this is not pride but acknowledgment that your inner kingdom has moved from fear to gratitude. Exercise the posture of the Psalm now: dwell in that sense of being blessed, feel the laughter rising, imagine others around you praising your inner victory, and let your life rearrange itself to reflect this new state.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of one whose life is filled with great things. In the next moment, declare 'The Lord hath done great things for me,' and let laughter and singing flow from your inner I AM.
