Read Psalms 126 in context

Scripture Focus

1When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
3The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Psalms 126:1-5

Biblical Context

Psalm 126 celebrates God turning Zion's captivity, bringing inner joy, laughter, and singing, with the promise that those who sow in tears will reap joy.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 126 reveals that the true exodus is internal. When the I AM turns the captivity of Zion, your consciousness awakens from a bondage of limitation into a life of freedom. The dreamlike astonishment—our mouths filled with laughter and our tongues with singing—occurs when you recognize that the LORD hath done great things for you inside your own being. The LORD here is the I AM within, not an external power, and the celebrated works arise as evidence of your inner release. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south, invites a continual flow of grace through your mind — a stream that nourishes faith, replaces dryness with abundance, and washes away the belief in lack. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy points to the patient cultivation of a new belief; you plant by feeling and conviction, and the harvest of joy is realized in the present awareness, not postponed to some future moment. The psalm asks you to live from that turned state, to let joy confirm the truth your inner sight already knows.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already free and joyful now. Close your eyes, feel the I AM as your constant, stream in the heart, and affirm, in the present tense, that great things have been done for you by the Lord within.
