Inner Waters of the Soul
Psalms 124:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Proud waters overwhelmed the soul. The verse implies those trials have passed, leaving the inner life steadier.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the soul as the I AM, the steadfast witness. The 'proud waters' are inner tides—oppression, alarm, pride—that rose and passed over the self. They are not you; you are the awareness that watches them come and go. In this light, the verse becomes a lesson in revision: when you acknowledge that the I AM is sovereign, the storm loses its claim over your reality. What you call 'my life' is the outward ripple of your inner state; change the state, and the scene changes. So when the waters sweep over, do not resist or drown in them. Instead, declare inwardly, I AM, and feel the truth as real: the currents are only memories of a belief now dissolved. The sea recedes, and you remain—the same unshaken consciousness, perceiving a serene landscape beyond the waves. This is how salvation begins: by turning attention from the tumult to the eternal I AM within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, rest in the I AM, and declare, 'I AM consciousness, sovereign now.' Then vividly imagine the waters sweeping over, and watch them recede, leaving you standing serene on your inner shore.
