On Our Side: Inner Deliverance
Psalms 124:1-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm credits God as our safeguard, insisting that without His presence we would be overwhelmed; with God, we are delivered and our souls find escape.
Neville's Inner Vision
Whenever you read 'If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,' hear it as: If it had not been the I AM within you, the sense 'you' would have been overwhelmed by opposing forces. In Neville's terms, places are dispositions and events are inner movements. The 'waters' and 'snare' are the shifting thoughts and fears attempting to swallow your life. Yet the I AM—the awareness that you are—remains constant, and when you acknowledge that the I AM is on your side, your inner state shifts from threat to deliverance. The deliverance is not external to you; it is the recognition that the power you seek already is within your own consciousness, the Creator of your skies and seas. The psalmist blesses the LORD who has not given us as prey; this is the moment you realize the 'snare' is broken by the unwavering I AM. Your soul is escaped because you, as the I AM, never truly fall into the trap; the shift in consciousness makes it so. Your help is the awareness that the I AM created heaven and earth; rest in that.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM is on your side right now; breathe deeply and feel the relief as the inner waters recede. Repeat internally: I am held by the I AM—this is my deliverance.
