Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse promises constant protection—day and night—through a God-aware state of consciousness. It invites one to rest in the I AM, where external heat or darkness cannot harm the inner self.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the sun by day and the moon by night as images in your own dream of life. The psalm invites you to awaken to the fact that you are not the body nor its weather, but the I AM that experiences them. When you believe you are exposed to heat or cold, you have stepped into a state of consciousness where danger feels real; but that is only a passing imagination. The sun and moon have power only to the extent you imagine power. In truth, you are the unchanging awareness that observes both light and dark; God is not beyond you but the I AM within you. Protection then is not an external shield but the recognition that you are always in the presence of God—unflinching, constant, and tender. When you align with this inner reality, the day cannot smite you and the night cannot overwhelm you, because your realm is awareness, not circumstance. Practice turning your attention to the watcher within and treating that awareness as your only reality; the world will adjust to that revised sense of self.
Practice This Now
Sit in silence and repeat 'I AM the light that cannot be smitten.' Feel the steady protection of awareness and carry that feeling into your day.
