Scripture Focus

2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalms 121:2-4

Biblical Context

The psalm states that help comes from the Creator who made heaven and earth. It also affirms a vigilant inner guard that never slumbers.

Neville's Inner Vision

I realize that the help spoken of in Psalms 121:2-4 is not a distant external rescue, but the action of the I AM in me, the creator of heaven and earth. When I say, 'My help cometh from the LORD,' I affirm that the inner picture I hold of myself is the reality I live. The foot that would falter is merely a thought until I fix my consciousness on the fact that the one who keeps me never sleeps. The line 'he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep' becomes the law of my being: my inner guard is awake, constant, and vigilant because it is the I AM watching through my eyes. In Neville's practice, I revise fear into trust by imagining the divine observer within me radiating steadiness, protection, and order. As I remain in that state, Providence ceases to be an event and becomes my present condition. My days unfold under a velvet night-and-day watchfulness, and I need not fear. Faith, then, is simply recognizing, here and now, that I am kept by the eternal I AM.

Practice This Now

Sit and breathe into the center of your chest. Repeat, 'My help cometh from the LORD, the I AM within me,' until you feel the inner guardian steady you with a sleepless, tender watch.
