Inner Lord Arises for Safety

Psalms 12:5-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 12 in context

Scripture Focus

5For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
Psalms 12:5-8

Biblical Context

The psalm declares that God will arise to defend the oppressed and preserve the faithful; the pure words of the Lord endure, while the wicked seem exalted.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 5 speaks to the felt oppression of the poor and the sighing of the needy. In Neville’s language these are states of consciousness: lack, fear, and limitation. When I, the I AM, arise as the Lord in me, I set my posture of safety against the puffing voices of outer conditions. The ‘words of the LORD are pure’ are the thoughts I choose to accept into my furnace of life, refined by the fire of attention until they shine as incorruptible silver. The promise ‘Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever’ becomes a decree I claim for my inner kingdom: my inner law preserves the true idea beyond the present generation of circumstances. The final verse, ‘The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted,’ shows that outward appearances of power mirror only collective belief. I do not fear them; I anchor in the abiding truth that the inner Lord arises, and through that awareness I am kept safe, pure, and free.

Practice This Now

Assume the Lord arises in you now; silently repeat, 'The pure words of the Lord keep me safe.' Feel the assurance as a warm, luminous sensation in the chest, and image a furnace refining your thoughts into clear, unassailable truths.
