Biblical Context
The psalmist affirms God's good dealing and seeks wisdom, promising to keep thy word. He notes that affliction redirected him back to the statutes and delights in thy law.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, you are the I AM, the awareness through which all things are made real. The verse says: Thou hast dealt well with thy servant according to thy word; so you accept that your state of consciousness is governed by a divine word within you. Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I have believed thy commandments—in other words, I have chosen to align my imaginal acts with the law. Before I was afflicted I went astray, yet now I keep thy word; affliction is the corrective pull of consciousness back to its true statute. Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes. When the proud forge a lie against me, I choose to keep thy precepts with my whole heart; my heart's energy is drawn away from the shadow of others' judgments to the clarity of thy word. Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In stillness, assume the feeling, 'I am kept by the word,' and let that conviction revise any sense of lack. Feel the inner law guiding every choice as if it were done now.
