Quicken Me By Thy Word
Psalms 119:25-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 119 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage speaks of a soul recognizing its dust and asking to be quickened by the Word; it seeks understanding of God's precepts and resolves to walk in truth, clinging to the testimonies until the heart is enlarged.
Neville's Inner Vision
Psalm 119:25-32 reads not a record of history but a state of mind. Dust is the old identification with limitation; the cry 'quicken thou me according to thy word' is the shift from outward appearance to inward acknowledgment that I AM is the law that quickens my life. When I say 'I have declared my ways,' I am simply becoming aware of my inner choices and inviting the truth of the law to correct my understanding. 'Teach me thy statutes' becomes an inner directive: align thought with the immutable orders of consciousness, so that my talk mirrors the wondrous works I affirm. 'My soul melteth for heaviness' yields to the strength that comes from feeding on the word; the burden dissolves as belief in limitation is replaced with conviction of truth. 'Remove from me the way of lying' is the revision of false images about myself; 'the way of truth' I have chosen and I will run the way of thy commandments when my heart is enlarged. Thus, mastery is not outward effort but the quiet expansion of imagination into living obedience.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already quickened by the Word this moment. Revise the belief 'I am burdened' to 'I am energized and guided by truth,' then feel your heart enlarge as you walk in the commandments.
