Psalms 118:5-7

Biblical Context

Psalm 118:5-7 speaks of calling on the Lord in distress, being answered, and placed in a large, abundant inner space. With the Lord on your side, fear dissolves and your desires move toward fulfillment despite opposition.

Neville's Inner Vision

When distress arises, I do not seek help from outside; I turn to the I AM within and assume a state of divine support. The call is a spiritual act that awakens the inner answer, and I am set in a large place—a widening of consciousness where limitation loosens and new possibilities breathe. The Lord on my side means the I AM stands as my constant ally, and fear loses its grip because no force stands apart from this unity. What can man do to me, when I realize that external appearances are but phenomena within my own dream of life? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me suggests an unbroken cooperation between inner faculties—imagination, faith, discernment—that assist my aims. Therefore I shall see my desire upon them that hate me, for the outer world rearranges itself to reflect the state I have already accepted inwardly. This psalm invites me to practice this inward alignment until it becomes my lived experience, not merely a verse to recite.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM is with you; repeat, 'The LORD is on my side.' Feel the spacious place form around you until fear yields and belief in support becomes your experience.
