Biblical Context
Psalm 118:17 proclaims a definite stance: not death, but life, and a vocation to declare the Lord’s works. It points to vitality and purpose rooted in consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the I AM vantage, the verse is a statement of the state of consciousness you inhabit: you shall not die because you are life itself and the living awareness that cannot perish. The body may show wear, but your true identity persists as vitality and purpose; to interpret it, assume the feeling of existing as one who declares the LORD's works, letting that assertion animate each moment. The 'works of the LORD' are the activities of your inner nature—harmony, health, clarity, and fruitful action—expressed through you in the world. If fear or illness arises, revise the scene by affirming: I am life, I am the living proof of the LORD's works. See imagination as the instrument by which life is lived; seek no external sign, but trust the inward reality you consistently presume. In this state, your surroundings respond to vitality, opportunities multiply, and you proclaim the living presence of God within through your actions and speech.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in the I AM state, affirm 'I shall not die, but live' while feeling the vitality of inner life coursing through you. Then revise any fear by declaring the LORD's works are already demonstrated in your day and act from that conviction.
