Psalms 118:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 118 in context

Scripture Focus

11They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
12They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Psalms 118:11-12

Biblical Context

The verses describe being surrounded by foes, yet the speaker chooses to destroy them through the power and name of the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture this: you are not chased by outward foes but by restless thoughts and limiting images that circle your quiet I AM. They surround you, bees of doubt, buzzing with fear, yet you answer from the throne of your own consciousness: in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. The name is not a shout to a distant God; it is a recognition that your awareness is the I AM, the very essence that speaks and creates. When you identify with that I AM—the you who is aware—you weaken the surrounding swarm and set it aflame with your certainty. The bees are quenched as the fire of thorns because the fire is your conviction that nothing external can prevail over the inner state of being. The victory is not in fighting them outside but in insisting that the state of victory is already present within you and asserts itself as your experience. Your mental circle dissolves into stillness, and your path becomes clear as you maintain the assumption that the LORD, the I AM, destroys every claim of separation.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume you are the I AM. Then repeat, 'In the name of the LORD I destroy them' while feeling the surrounding buzzing dissolve into calm, as you stand in the victorious awareness of your own being.
