Psalms 116:3-5

Biblical Context

The psalm describes being overwhelmed by death and trouble, then calling on the LORD for deliverance, and acknowledging that God is gracious and merciful.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let the verse reveal a state of consciousness rather than a distant event. When the fear of death and the sense of hell encircle you, you are simply experiencing a limited thought pattern in your mind. Call upon the name of the LORD, not as a ritual external to you, but as turning your attention to the I AM that you are. Deliver my soul is your refusal to identify with fear and pain; it is a claim of rescue by your own awareness. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful expresses the inherent mercy that belongs to your consciousness. The remedy is not pleading to an outside deity but reidentifying with the I AM and choosing a new state of feeling. So, revise the feeling, accept mercy as your immediate nature, and feel gratitude as if you are already saved. Your deliverance is an inner conversion, a shift of consciousness that transforms the apparent problem into a proof of your eternal, loving I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise the state: I am delivered now. Feel the relief filling your chest as you rest in the I AM.
