Belief, Speech, and Illusion

Psalms 116:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 116 in context

Scripture Focus

10I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11I said in my haste, All men are liars.
Psalms 116:10-11

Biblical Context

The verse shows a believer who speaks from trust. Then hardship comes and, in haste, the speaker accuses others of lying.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider belief as an inner state that animates speech and events. When I hold a quiet conviction of my I AM being the truth of life, I speak from that inner state and the world moves to harmonize with it. The psalmist speaks from faith and experiences great affliction, which exposes the stubbornness of a former fear based assumption. The line I said all men are liars is not a fact about others but a misread state inside me. The remedy is to return to I AM and revise the belief about people and circumstance. Assume now that I am whole and reliable, and let my words proceed from that end as if it already existed. If I feel the reality of that state, my speech becomes a natural expression of truth rather than a reaction to error. By dwelling in the felt reality of the desired state, I align events with that state and the old cynicism loses its grip. In this inner transformation the spoken word becomes a confirmation of inner truth rather than a counter to appearances.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and revise the belief to I AM the truth of my being, unshaken and trustworthy. Speak from that end for one minute, feeling it real.
