Idols and the Mirror Within

Psalms 115:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 115 in context

Scripture Focus

8They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
Psalms 115:8

Biblical Context

The verse says that those who fashion idols become like the idols they fashion, and those who trust these idols take on the nature of what they worship.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of every outward image as a symbol of an inner state. The idol you fashion is not a separate deity but a fixed picture you have entertained in your mind. When you trust that picture, you lend it life by identifying with its traits and you begin to resemble it. Yet the I AM within you is the unchanging source beyond all images. To reclaim your power, stop identifying with the idol and return your awareness to the consciousness that creates forms. In stillness, assume you are already free from limitation, and feel the truth of your own invincible presence. Imagine the world around you reacting to that inner state, not to the idol you once worshipped. Persist in the feeling of the truth long enough and the outer form will shift to harmonize with the renewed inner image. You are the I AM; what you trust becomes your manifestation, so trust only the eternal you and the likeness will follow.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit in quiet with eyes closed and feel I am the I AM. Revise the belief that any idol has power over you and affirm that your awareness creates every image.
