Psalms 115:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 115 in context

Scripture Focus

1Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
2Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
3But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
Psalms 115:1-3

Biblical Context

The psalm says we should give glory to God, not to ourselves, because His mercy and truth endure. It then notes that doubts from outsiders will question God's presence, yet God dwells in the heavens, doing as He pleases.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 115:1-3 invites you to reinterpret the scene of your life as the expression of your inner I AM. Not unto us, O LORD, but unto thy name give glory means you shift your center of gravity from personal achievement to the awareness of God within you—the I AM—whose merciful nature and faithful law govern every feeling and impression. When the world asks, 'Where is now their God?' you answer by living as though Heaven is your native atmosphere, for the heavens are in your own consciousness and God has done whatever He pleases by your consent to this divine order. The heathen doubt is the old memory of lack; the remedy is to cling to the realization that true power is inside, not outside. By quietly assuming the state of the I AM—glory, mercy, truth—you awaken Providence to reorder your circumstances to reflect your new inner state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and rest in the I AM. Assume the state: 'Glory to God in me now,' feel mercy and truth governing your life, and notice the outer scene aligning with your inner conviction.
