Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 112 portrays the blessing that comes to the righteous: fearing the LORD, delighting in His commands, and living with generosity, courage, and enduring righteousness. Its theme is that inner alignment with divine law yields outward abundance and steadfast security.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine the psalmist’s blessing as a state of consciousness you inhabit, not a future event. To fear the LORD is to envelop your attention with reverence for your I AM, the awareness that governs every action. Delighting in the commandments is delighting in the discipline of your inner counsel, the steady inclination toward truth and compassion. When the verse says wealth and riches shall be in his house, receive that as inner abundance: resources of thought, energy, and opportunity that arise because you are aligned with righteousness. The upright are said to have light arising in darkness—that is, your inner discernment brightens when you refuse fear and stand in trust. To lend and show favour is to practice generous imagination, directing your affairs with discretion from a calm, benevolent center. The psalm promises that you shall not be moved, never forgotten in memory, when you are fixed in trust in the LORD. Your heart becomes established, free from alarm, until you see your desires manifest against opposition. In this way, the wicked’s perception of your success fades as your inner sight holds.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of the upright man now: feel abundant inner provision and let generosity flow through your imagination. Visualize guiding your affairs with discernment and trust, and revise any sense of lack by insisting, I am wealth, I am secure, I am loved.
