Psalms 111:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 111 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm proclaims that God's works are true and just, and His commandments endure; they stand firm forever in truth. It closes with redemption and an eternal covenant, inviting reverent trust.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that the 'works of his hands' are not distant acts but the movements of your own consciousness. When you assent to a thing as verity and judgment, you align your inner world with the Law that never fails. 'All his commandments are sure' becomes your inner assurance: a fixed, reliable pattern of thought that does not waver with appearances. The line 'they stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness' speaks of the enduring nature of the moral order within your awareness—truth expressed as righteous feeling, steady perception, and creative imagination acting in harmony with good. 'He sent redemption unto his people' marks the instant your consciousness discovers its own invincible livelihood—redemption not from outside, but from identification with limitation. 'He hath commanded his covenant for ever' is the recognition that your I AM is the eternal covenant you live by, unchanging and holy. Hence, 'holy and reverend is his name' becomes the reverent attention you pay to the energetic presence within you, the awareness that is God.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling that you are the I AM and that the commandments are your inner laws. Close your eyes, repeat 'I AM that I AM' until you sense the timeless covenant sustaining every thought as holy.
