Inner Shield of Faith
Psalms 11:2-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 11 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The wicked shoot at the upright and foundations seem destroyed. The psalm then asserts God's watching presence in heaven and the testing of the righteous.
Neville's Inner Vision
Psalm 11:2-5, in Neville's eyes, unveils a drama of consciousness, not geography. The upright in heart is a state—an inner posture of alert, fearless awareness. The arrows and the bow are thoughts pressed toward your sense of security; when fear presses, the foundations seem destroyed. But the Lord in his holy temple is the I AM within you, the throne in heaven your unalterable perspective. His eyes behold; his eyelids try—the inner tests that reveal what you really believe. The Lord tries the righteous, not to torment you, but to burn away what is not true to your essential nature. The wicked and him that loveth violence are those restless thoughts you choose to cast out by identity with the present Presence. This 'trial' is your opportunity to shift from reaction to recognition: you do not face the world; you face your own belief that you are separate from the divine source. When you align with the I AM, foundations are restored by quiet certainty, and righteous action flows from calm, sure inner seeing.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In a moment of quiet, picture the Lord's throne in your inner temple; affirm 'I AM' here and now, and revise every fear as a thought dissolving into that Presence—feel the certainty until it is real.
