The Inner Sparrow Watch

Psalms 102:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 102 in context

Scripture Focus

7I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
8Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.
Psalms 102:7-8

Biblical Context

The speaker is alone, watching from a rooftop, while enemies reproach him day and night. The passage portrays a mind feeling beset by constant attack and scorn.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are not the sparrow; you are the I AM that watches the sparrow. The sparrow on the roof is the symbol of your awareness perched above the drama of appearances. The enemies and their reproach are not outside you, but the voices of doubt and fear that you have allowed to form in your mind. In this moment you can revise the scene by assuming: I am the I AM, and I dwell in the roof of my own consciousness where no reproach can touch me. Feel the steadiness of the watcher. As you abide in that awareness, the sense of being alone and attacked dissolves, replaced by a luminous sense of wholeness. Imagination, not circumstance, creates reality; therefore imagine that you are already complete, protected, and at peace, and let the inner state cascade outward until the so-called enemies fade from view.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes; visualize yourself as the sparrow perched on your mind's roof. Say, 'I am the I AM,' and feel the watcher’s serene certainty transform the scene into inner peace.
