Psalms 101:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 101 in context

Scripture Focus

7He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
8I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
Psalms 101:7-8

Biblical Context

The verses declare deceit and lies have no place in the speaker's inner house and call for removal of the wicked from the land to purify the LORD's city.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the psalm, the scene of judgment is not external but inward: the I AM, the true self, will not permit deceit to dwell in its house, and it will not tarry with lies in its sight. The terms home and city are states of consciousness: the home is your mental residence, the city the organized life of awareness in God. When I realize that I am the I AM, I can destroy the power of deceit by not entertaining it, by revising any picture that contradicts this truth. The wicked of the land are the lingering habits, fear-based beliefs, and counterfeit pictures within me that would deny my unity with God. By standing in the firm conviction that this consciousness is pure, I contract the reality around me so that those falsehoods are dissolved and their influence cut off from the inner city. This is not punishment but discipline of perception, aligning my life with the indivisible presence of the LORD.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and affirm, 'I am the I AM; deceit has no dwelling in me.' Visualize a cleansing light sweeping through your inner house, dissolving all lies and sealing the city of the LORD within you.
