Biblical Context
Psalm 100:2-3 invites you to serve God with joy and gratitude, recognizing that God is the Creator and that you belong to Him as His people.
Neville's Inner Vision
Take the psalm as a map of your inner state. When I say, 'Serve the LORD with gladness,' I mean a shift of consciousness, not a ceremonial duty. The LORD is not distant; the I AM—the awareness you are—is the ground of all life. To know that 'the LORD he is God' is to recognize that all creation begins in your mind and flows from your own assumption. You did not make yourself; you are made by the One Infinite Life, and you are His people within the field of that Life—the sheep of His pasture. The pasture is your inner atmosphere of order, gratitude, and delight. Your service, therefore, is the faithful alignment of your thoughts, feelings, and decisions with that Presence; it is the practice of living as if you already belong to the One who formed you. When you allow yourself to imagine singing before that presence, you are rehearsing faith: you are declaring, in feeling and image, that you are owned by the God of Life and that your life moves in accord with His nature.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume you are already in God's presence; feel the gladness rise and let a brief song rise in your chest. Mentally repeat, 'I am God's creation, I serve from joy,' until the feeling is real in your consciousness.
