Inner Snare, Outer Fate
Proverbs 7:23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse warns that heedless impulse leads to a hidden trap, striking the life of the seeker when least expected. It implies the danger of rushing toward temptation without awareness of its deadly consequence.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the dart and the snare are not external dangers but states of consciousness. The 'liver' you read as life-blood is the center of your vitality—the seat of your I AM awareness. When you live in a rush of appetite or fear, you hand your life over to a thought that pretends to be freedom. The bird hurries to the snare because it believes the impulse will yield relief; but imagination is the power that makes both the snare and the life that follows. Therefore, observe your present impulse as if it were a dream passing through your screen of awareness. Do not condemn the impulse; welcome the awareness that you are the one creating it. By refusing to identify with the impulse and by assuming a higher, wiser state, you reverse the imagined chain—what was a blade becomes a doorway. The dart vanishes when the mind consents to a new inner alignment: I choose life, I choose faith in my inner guidance, I am safe when I remain immovable in the truth of my I AM.
Practice This Now
Assume the end: I am guided away from every snare; feel the certainty as if it were already real.
