Scripture Focus

13So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
14I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
17I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
Proverbs 7:13-20

Biblical Context

Plain meaning: A woman entices a man away from his commitments with sensual promises. It warns that seductive thoughts can override vows when inner discipline is neglected.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner theatre of faith, the 'woman' is the alluring image of pleasure that arises when the mind senses lack and the inner guardian (the I AM) is momentarily distant. The scenes of peace offerings, vows, and decorated beds are not external events but images within consciousness that pretend to fulfill a void. The man’s attention drifts toward sensation, as if fulfillment lies in the next encounter, while the true state of being—your I AM, your vow-keeping self—remains unchanged. The power of these seductive scripts lies in belief; to disarm them, you must inhabit the state you seek as already real. Reclaim the room of your mind by affirming that you have paid your vows and that your inner goodman remains at home within you. When the imagination presents its alluring bed, meet it with the awareness that you are the I AM, sovereign over every image. refinement comes not by denial, but by revision in consciousness.

Practice This Now

Practice: In a quiet moment, close your eyes and watch the seductive image as if it appears on a screen. Say quietly, 'I am the I AM; I keep my vows; this image has no power over me,' and then feel the reality of the vow already fulfilled as your living state.
