Biblical Context
Proverbs 7:11-12 portrays a bold, restless figure outside the home, waiting to lure the naïve. It points to the pull of outside appearances over inner order.
Neville's Inner Vision
That loud, stubborn woman is not a woman at all but a state of consciousness that would keep you from abiding in the house of your being. When you feel the pull to go out into the streets, you are simply attending to appearances—the lure of fear, desire, and self-importance. Proverbs does not condemn a person but invites you to discern the inner movements: the 'corner' becomes every wavering thought, every moment you forget the I AM and chase sensation. Your true home is the still, aware I AM that never leaves the center; the remedy is to assume and feel as if that inner house is your only address. In this psychology, obedience and purity are practices: refuse to identify with the wandering impulse, and repeatedly return to the sense, 'I am consciousness; I dwell in the house of being.' The persistence of the lure shows you where faithfulness must be trained—by choosing the inner order over outward appearances, by letting pride fall away and abiding in the one Self that remains unchanged.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; I dwell in the house of my being.' Then imagine stepping back from the corner of distraction and entering the inner home, feeling the steadiness of consciousness.
