Guarding Desire Within
Proverbs 6:25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Biblical Context
The verse cautions against cherishing beauty in the heart and being drawn in by alluring appearances. It invites a disciplined inner posture to honor integrity.
Neville's Inner Vision
In your present state, the 'she' of the verse is not a woman but a symbol—an image that threatens to seize your inner attention and rule your acts. Lust, in Neville’s terms, is a movement of consciousness, a belief that a pleasing form can complete you. When the heart latches onto beauty and the eyelids take thee, you are surrendering sovereignty to a fleeting impression. But you are the I AM, the awareness that witnesses thoughts rather than being defined by them. The command is not a denial of beauty, but a refusal to allow any image to monopolize your inner kingdom. To see this, imagine a scene arising in consciousness and then consciously revise it: replace the lure with the sight of your own unconditioned identity, the calm I that must govern every impression. By assuming the reality of your higher self and feeling it real, the image dissolves, and the impulse loses its magnetism. Practice is not suppression but clarification: you inwardly announce, 'I am the I AM; I govern my inner vision; no eyelid or lure can carry me away from my truth.'
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and revise the scene: 'I am the I AM; I govern my inner vision; no image has power over me.' Do this until the sense of sovereignty is real.
