Biblical Context
Plain sense: He urges you to heed wise instruction and avoid temptations, for neglecting guidance leads to loss of honor, wealth, and years, ending in regret.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the I AM, the voice speaks: depart from the voices that would pull your life into someone else’s house and away from your own inner sanctuary. The 'door of her house' becomes every lure that promises quick pleasure, while 'honour' and 'years' symbolize the energy of your being when aligned with your true pattern. When you listen to external appetites you trade the wealth of your own consciousness for counterfeit gain and you set your vitality to labour in a stranger’s realm. The lament—'how have I hated instruction'—is the reminder that your present state is the result of your inner choices, not fate. Yet the message is not doom, but a map for a shift in consciousness. If you intentionally depart from those scenes of distraction and reprove your own restless thoughts, you realign with the teacher within. In that inner turning, your life returns to your own house, and what you value—time, energy, health—stays under your own governance. The true instruction is faithfulness to your inner teacher, who is your God within, keeping you safe and whole.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, declare to yourself, 'I depart from folly and heed the inner teacher.' Then imagine your life anchored in your own house, your wealth and labor prospering there, and feel the certainty that you are guided by the I AM within.
