Proverbs 5:7-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 5 in context

Scripture Focus

7Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
Proverbs 5:7-10

Biblical Context

Listen to wise counsel and depart from tempting paths. If you linger, you risk losing honor and wealth to external forces.

Neville's Inner Vision

To me, the hearer is your own I AM, awakening to a law written in your consciousness. The ‘her’ and the ‘door’ are symbols of temptation and distraction, not persons. When you forget who you are, you drift toward the logic of lack, and your honor and years seem handed to the cruel and to strangers in the outer world. The remedy is not denial but a deliberate reimagining: assume the state of the self that creates and preserves wealth, a state of inviolable integrity. When a thought of temptation arises, revise it by saying, I am the awareness that creates wealth and honor in this moment; I depart from all impulses that lead away from that center. Your riches are never propped up by others’ favors but by the inner domain you inhabit. See every impulse as passing weather, and return your attention to the steady throne of consciousness. In that crown, prosperity remains aligned with virtue, and time is measured by inner faithfulness, not external gain.

Practice This Now

Assume the state “I AM wealth and honor are mine,” feel it real for 5 minutes, and let temptations fade as you keep your mind on the inner throne.
